Roslan Abdullah steps down from Proton after 5 years – Ainol Azmi appointed covering deputy CEO

Proton has announced that it has named Ainol Azmil as covering deputy chief executive officer effective June 10, taking over responsibilities of the role from Roslan Abdullah who steps down after taking on the position in January 2022.

In addition to his new role as covering deputy CEO, Ainol will continue to serve his existing portfolio in corporate strategy and group technical procurement with the company, and report directly to Proton CEO Li Chunrong.

“Proton welcomes Ainol Azmil to the role of covering Deputy Chief Executive Officer. We are confident in his ability to take on this temporary appointment. At the same time, Proton would like to convey utmost gratitude to Roslan Abdullah for his contribution to the company and we wish him well in his future undertakings,” Proton CEO Li Chunrong said in a statement.

Roslan joined Proton on June 1, 2020 as vice president of sales and marketing at Proton as well as CEO of Proton Edar, after his departure from Honda Malaysia.

Roslan was then appointed deputy CEO of Proton in January 2022, succeeding Datuk Radzaif Mohamed. In his time with the company, Roslan helped Proton reinforce its position in the Malaysian market as well as enter the EV segment with its first EV product, the eMas 7.
