On May 22, TCL Malaysia unveiled its 2025 product lineup, showing off its innovative screens to an exclusive audience.

This included the brand’s latest air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, and AI-powered smart home ecosystem.

And let’s not forget, their groundbreaking QD-Mini LED TVs, including the new C7K Premium QD-Mini LED TV.

First, who’s TCL?

TCL is a leading global technology company that’s headquartered in China.

Founded in 1981, TCL was previously known as TTK Home Appliances Co., Ltd. Being one of China’s first joint venture companies, TCL initially specialised in magnetic tape production before diversifying into smart devices, photovoltaics, and other sectors.

Over the years, TCL has consistently expanded and developed its businesses. Today, they’re known for their cutting-edge TVs, which they reported global sales of 29 million units in 2024.

The company also shared with Vulcan Post that they were ranked first last year when it came to global Mini LED TV sales, Google TV Sales, and Ultra Large Screen TV sales, as reported by Omdia, an independent analyst and consultancy firm.

Their rise to the top is due to a few factors. One, TCL has their very own screen factory by the name of CSOT. CSOT’s share in the global screen supply market is reportedly second in the world.

At the same time, TCL has continually invested in their own R&D throughout the years, having put in around RMB60 billion (about RM40 billion) in the past five years.

Specifically, the company’s proactive investments have led to 24 R&D centres and seven joint laboratories worldwide. With that, the team actively creates key competitive advantages in technological fields such as Mini LED, QLED, AI, IoT, OS, AR/VR, new materials, 5G, cloud computing, and smart manufacturing.

All this R&D seems to have paid off with groundbreaking new technology, such as one of their latest products, the C7K.

Introducing the C7K Premium QD-Mini LED TV

While their new products lineup included a range of cool tech, one eye-catching inclusion is its C7K Premium QD-Mini LED TV.

It comes in various sizes—65 inches, 75 inches, 85 inches, and a whopping 115 inches.

This ultra-large 115-inch screen size marks the TV as one of the biggest displays ever launched in the Malaysian market.

But it’s not just all about size. The tech that goes with it is what makes it shine.

If you’ve never heard of QD-Mini LED, it’s basically the best of both worlds. You’ve likely heard of QLED and OLED technology, and QD-Mini blends the merits of both to create something better.

QD refers to quantum dots, which is the technology found in many premium TVs, offering high contrast and a colour gamut comparable to OLED, while also providing higher peak brightness and a longer lifespan.

Meanwhile, the Mini LED is essentially a step above OLED TVs. Mini LED TVs feature ultra-high peak brightness, ultra-high contrast, ultra-high color gamut, ultra-long service life, and it is easier to achieve high resolution.

The screens also utilise something called the CrystGlow HVA Panel, which delivers improved light control. Enhancing contrast while reducing glare, it allows for clear and rich visuals for that perfect cinematic viewing experience.

With a peak HDR brightness of 3,000 nits and a refresh rate of 144Hz, this TV is definitely a high-performance beast. The slim and modern profile also makes it visually appealing.

What’s more, the audio components of the TV are designed by Bang & Olufsen, promising that world-class auditory experience.

For non-audiophiles, Bang & Olufsen has been around for a century since 1925. They’re known for their innovative audio that seeks to defy conventions. Their legacy of exceptional sound quality seeks to offer an all-rounded viewing experience through the TCL TV.

This audia design is available on all sizes except for the 115-inch TV, which was developed by Onkyo, a Japanese consumer electronics company that specialises in premium home cinema and audio equipment.

The C7K features a surround acoustic design, and each speaker is Hi-END grade acoustic which allows an acoustic experience with richer detail, more natural tone, and more three-dimensional sound effects.

A global brand

At their launch event, TCL also announced its new role as an official Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner in the Home Audiovisual Equipment and Home Appliances category.

TCL will support the International Olympic Committee (IOC) by providing innovative display and home appliance solutions.

On the global front, TCL is certainly leading the charge. In Malaysia itself, though, the brand is also becoming a notable go-to one when it comes to TVs—especially when it comes to high-quality, ultra-large screens.
